DuraFlex Chimney Inspection in Fort Lauderdale: What to Know First
DuraFlex chimney inspection in Fort Lauderdale typically runs $189 to $389 depending on whether you need a Level 1 visual check or a Level 2 camera inspection, and most jobs are completed in under two hours. We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider, not a factory-authorized shop, so our only loyalty is to you and the condition of your flue. If you own a home in Fort Lauderdale with a DuraFlex liner and want to know exactly what’s happening inside that steel tube before you light another fire, call (754) 354-1451 and we’ll give you a written price before anyone touches a ladder.
How DuraFlex Products Fail – and How We Find It
DuraFlex makes a solid product line, and we install and inspect a lot of it across Fort Lauderdale. But every liner system has its weak points, and coastal Florida has a way of finding them. Here’s what we actually see on inspection calls:
- DuraFlex 316Ti pitting at the first flue tile transition. The 316Ti alloy is good, but Fort Lauderdale’s salt air and high humidity combined with acidic condensate from gas logs can create pinpoint pitting where the liner flexes around the smoke shelf. On a Level 2 camera inspection, it shows up as tiny dark speckles that catch the light. It’s repairable if caught early; left alone, those pits become pinholes and then tears.
- DuraFlex Pro connection-band slippage after storms. Hurricane-force gusts shake the chimney cap and the liner moves with it. We regularly find connection bands that have slid down a half inch, leaving a small gap at the joint. The liner looks fine from the firebox, but the camera tells a different story. We re-seat and re-band those joints and torque them to spec.
- DuraFlex AL (aluminum) liner corrosion on water heater flues. Aluminum liners vent gas water heaters. In Fort Lauderdale’s warm, moisture-heavy air, condensation forms inside the liner faster than it can evaporate. The result is white oxidation scale inside the AL liner, often within five to seven years of install. If your water heater flue has never been inspected, this one’s worth scheduling.
- DuraFlex rain cap and termination cap wind damage. The east side of Fort Lauderdale, from Victoria Park to Coral Ridge, takes steady ocean wind. Termination caps catch that wind, and over years the cap’s fasteners work loose. A loose cap lets rain straight down the liner, mixing with creosote into an acidic slurry that attacks the liner wall.
- DuraFlex masonry transition gaps. Most Fort Lauderdale chimneys are masonry outside with a DuraFlex liner inside. The transition where the liner exits the clay tile into the termination cap is a place we find hidden gaps because the original installer cut the liner short. A Level 2 camera inspection documents it in full, and we can install an extension collar without pulling the whole liner.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Process
Inspection is where Ashby earns its keep. Here’s how a DuraFlex inspection goes in your home:
- 1
We talk first. You tell us what the fireplace or furnace is doing, when the liner was installed, and what you’ve noticed. If you have the original paperwork, great. If not, we can usually date the liner from the stamp on the connector.
- 2
Written price before the ladder leaves the truck. No range, no “we’ll see once we’re up there.” The number on the quote is the number on the invoice.
- 3
Visual and camera pass. We run a camera from the firebox up, checking every joint, seam, and transition. You see the footage we see, in real time, on a tablet.
- 4
Parts decision, explained plainly. If the liner needs a DuraFlex replacement component, we tell you the OEM part price and any quality aftermarket option that fits the same spec. We don’t push a brand, we show you the difference and let you choose.
- 5
The report. You get a written inspection report with photos, measurements, and a repair recommendation in plain English, not chimney shorthand.
- 6
The guarantee. If any covered repair we do fails inside the guarantee period, we come back and correct it at no charge. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s in writing on every job.

AfterWhat DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Costs in Fort Lauderdale
Here’s the honest money talk. Most DuraFlex chimney inspections in Fort Lauderdale fall between $189 and $389.
- Level 1 inspection (visual, accessible areas only): $189 to $249. Best when nothing has changed and you just need your annual check.
- Level 2 inspection (camera scan of the full flue): $289 to $389. Standard for real estate transactions or after a storm, and it’s the one we recommend for any DuraFlex liner older than five years.
- Level 3 inspection (when we need to open a wall or remove liner sections to see): $800 to $1,500 plus the cost of any rebuild. These are rare, but some Fort Lauderdale homes with original 1960s chase construction need one to see what’s actually failing.
What moves the price: roofline height, chase access, and whether we’re re-inspecting after a previous company’s repair. Estimates are free, and the price you get before the work is the price you pay.
Why Fort Lauderdale Homeowners Call Ashby Chimney Fort Lauderdale for DuraFlex Work
Most customers we meet have already been let down once. A company that didn’t show, a price that changed at the door, a liner that cracked again six weeks after the “fix.” We built Ashby Chimney Fort Lauderdale to be the opposite of that. Phones answered by a live person, 24/7. Background-checked, uniformed techs on every visit. Written price before any work starts, written guarantee when it’s done. Nathan Corliss grew up in Los Angeles and trained through the vocational programs at LA Trade-Tech before settling his crew into Fort Lauderdale, and he’s been inspecting chimneys for going on two decades. If your DuraFlex liner needs work but a different brand fits the job better, we’ll tell you that too, and we work with HeatShield and Gelco when those systems make more sense. Say the price first, explain the work second, put it all in writing, that is the whole business model.
FAQs
No. Inspection by an independent chimney company does not void a DuraFlex warranty. In fact, DuraFlex’s own warranty terms require documented annual inspection and cleaning for many claims, so having a written inspection report from us actually protects your warranty position. We document everything with photos and measurements, which is exactly what you want if you ever need to file a claim.
We can usually get a tech out to your Fort Lauderdale home within a few business days, and we book real arrival windows, not four-hour gaps. Call (754) 354-1451 and we’ll give you a date and a written price before anyone shows up.
Most DuraFlex liners can be repaired, not replaced. Joint band re-seating, pinhole patching, rain cap replacement, and transition collar installation solve a lot of what we find. We only recommend replacement when the liner walls are structurally compromised or corrosion has spread across multiple sections, and we’ll show you the camera footage that backs up that call.
We do. We install and inspect HeatShield and Gelco systems as well, and sometimes one of those is the better fit for a particular Fort Lauderdale chimney. Since we’re independent, we’re not tied to any single manufacturer’s line.
A Level 1 inspection is visual and covers what we can see without tools in the accessible areas of the fireplace and flue. A Level 2 inspection adds a full camera scan of the liner interior, which is where most DuraFlex problems actually live. If it’s been more than a year since your last camera scan, book the Level 2.
If you own a DuraFlex liner in Fort Lauderdale and want a straight answer about its condition, call (754) 354-1451. We’ll put a price in writing before the work starts, and we’ll stand behind whatever we find.
